Feline eyes, fresh luminous skin, natural lips and groomed brows made the makeup on the Dolce and Gabbana models such a desirable look this season. It has a beautiful bohemian carefree feel to it and is the perfect way to step into summer.
First off you need to look after your skin. This look uses very sheer foundation with additional highlighter which means you need as few blemishes as possible. Stay faithful to your summer skin care routine and keep drinking that water and you’ll pull off the fresh-faced look no problem.
Apply your foundation half an hour after moisturising for maximum staying power. Avoid heavy matt foundations, instead opt for something light and sheer. A BB cream is perfect, go for something with light reflecting particles that will give you a natural glow without providing too much coverage. Blend with your fingers for a more even finish.
Apply a good quality concealer under the eyes to combat dark circles and down the sides of the nose to eliminate shadows. Blend across the eyelids to create a smooth base for your eye shadow and to hide any tiny veins. Always use your ring finger to apply concealer. The warmth of your finger helps the blending process, and as your third finger is the weakest it helps you be gentle on the delicate skin around your eyes.
Next apply a bronzer, just brush it where the sun naturally strikes. Think cheekbones, forehead, chin and nose.
Choose a blusher in a coral shade. Apply in the hollows of the cheekbones to sculpt the face and add a natural looking summer flush.
Apply a cream or liquid highlighter. This will add luminosity to the whole look. For this summery look pick a highlighter with warm tones, perhaps a hint of gold. Dab down the line of the nose, across the brow bone, at the height of the cheek bone and lightly across the chin. This will really freshen the look as well as bringing out the cheekbones.
Apply a cream eye shadow across the entire lid. Apply a taupe shadow in the crease of the eyelid and extend outwards from the outer corner of the eye up to the brow bone. Always use a brush to apply eye shadow, it will give a much smoother finish than a sponge applicator. Apply a light white or silver eye shadow to the inner corner of the eye.
Draw a fine line in black liquid eyeliner from three quarters way along the eyelid until the outer corner, finish with a delicate flick. Use a kohl liner in black to add definition to the inner corner of the eye. Also apply the kohl liner to the bottom eyelid, drawing along the inside of the lash line.
Finish eyes with your favourite lengthening mascara in black.
Brush your brows up and out towards your hairline. Define your brows with a natural coloured eyebrow pencil using small even strokes. Brush again. Defining your brows will really frame your face and finish the look.
Dab a matt lip colour into your lips, choose a colour as close to your natural lip colour as possible. Use a finger to apply a dab of highlighter to the centre of your middle lip.
Wear with large statement earrings and a wide hair band to really emulate the D&G SS13 look.
